How can I stop my pc from scanning when booting

In the win 98 there was a option to stop win from scanning hardisk.
For no reason, my computer always scans hardisk whenever I boot. It is
really annoying that I have to wait it for a long time if I don't push ESC in
time. How can I turn it off??

Go to the hard disk manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic software
respective to your hard disk. After the test, you will know if the hard disk is bad or
not..

Hi,
"YES" it is very annoying but you have a problem with your system. Scandisk
checks for errors on the hard disk if there has been a shutdown error, you
may not notice anything but there is a problem. Try scanning you Hard Drive
with manufacturers software as David suggests. You can also try disabling
the "Automatically Restart Entry" in startup and recovery options. This
will give you an error message if you system has a problem and helps in
fault finding.
NB. A bad sector on a hard disk causes this problem.
