Hotmail page cannot be displayed

Hi, I'm having a problem accessing my e-mails and I can't figure out why. I
have the newest Explorer updates and no apparent viruses, but there's
definitely something affecting my computer and that of my roommate, who's
sharing my connection through a router. We can use Messenger, but everytime
we try to sign into Hotmail, it says "this page cannot be displayed". It's
been 4 days now and my roommate was able to check her e-mail on someone
else's computer yesterday.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Kate,

Most often when I hear this, I think Firewall. The fact that you can
use messenger says that you have a valid Internet connection. I
would try other pages inside of my browser. If I get the same error
then I would assume the firewall is blocking your browser.

If your browser can load other pages, I would next check the 'hosts'
file to see if it is being blocked there.
