hotmail-I am locked out,can anyone help please?

hello.I'm not very computer minded so, please understand this and bear
with me.
I joined Hotmail a few years ago and,like lots of other sites I just
have the password already stored in Internet Explorer so,I haven't had
to use it for ages ( I know, I know .... )
As I only use a few passwords, I've never forseen any possible
problem. Yesterday my Granddaughter had stayed ( using the PC ) and
when I went to check my e.mails, first of all via msn messenger as I
usually do, my login name and password were no longer stored in
messenger. This was strange enough as I have ALWAYS had messenger auto
sign me in.
I then went to Hotmail.com ( Live.com ) and looked for help with my
password.
Sorry did I mention I tried logging in and for the life of me I cannot
get the password right!
Long story short - I also have no idea what my secret question was as,
it was years ago.
I rely on Hotmail as my main e.mail address, I have loads of
addresses,attachments,photos etc,in that account.I use it every
day.Can anyone help me I've searched the Hotmail Help and doesn't help
at all.
Surely there must be some real person I can contact,a dept in Hotmail
or somnething? Any info would be greatly appreciated as I cannot lose
facing this account and having it disappear.

the problem was solved a few hours ago and I can use my hotmail account and
download messages bit it came back now and nothing work with hotmail

Known problem with the Hotmail user account / password system. Went
down this morning and it was fixed this afternoon. Some account may
take more time to get back to a working state.

I suggest when you are able to login, please amend your profile so that
your alternative email address is entered for MS to send you your
password by email!

Thanks to all who replied.I failed to make myself clear sorry. All this happened and, I've been trying since Sunday therfore, has nothing to do with any fault that may have happened yesterday.What I really need here is someoneI can contact at Microsoft to verify who I am in order to access my account..
