hotmail access

I can no longer access my hotmail account through the start menu. All I get
is an error message on the bottom of the page. The only way I can get in is
through msn.com and even then I can't open anything it just acts like its
stuck opening a page. I can view messages but I can't open anything. This
has happened since I've had a new computer. Hotmail support has given me
steps to try (lowering privacy settings, enable cookies, deleting cookies and
temp internet files) and none of it has worked. Need help!

Here's additional info I'm getting now - but not every time!

[Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. To use .NET
Passport, you must enable cookies.
.NET Passport stores cookies (small text files) on your computer that let
you sign in to .NET Passport participating sites. For information about how
to enable cookies, see the online help for your Web browser.]

You need to do two things, First remove all existing cookies in your
profile store for Hotmail, Passport. You'll find them in
C:\Documents and Settings\'YourLoginName'\Cookies
They will appear as:
'YourloginName'@hotmail.msn.Txt
'YourloginName'@passport.Txt
They may also appear with a numerical extension as [1] or [2]

Next use the Privacy (Tab) of IE's Tools, Internet Options to set IE
to allow cookies for Hotmail.com, Passport.Com & Passport.Net
You do this under the Sites, sub-option. They will appear in your
Managed Web_sites: table or you can add them manually.

I followed both steps, even restarted and it still made no difference. I'm
still getting the same "cookie" message as stated below. Any other ideas?
thanks for your help!

Why not use a standard email service? And avoid all those niggles?
