Hot Fixes XP

I am trying to get rid of some programs under the remove
programs under my computer and i noticed I have about 30
xp hot fixes with different #'s next to them....do I need
them all and what are they?????

Yes you need them. These are fixes and patch's that are downloaded from
Windows Update. They keep your computer secure and fixes mknow problems in
Windows.

They are the various updates downloaded from Windows Update, so you
could remove them if they give trouble. Where it has Qnnnnnn or KB
nnnnnn against them, look up at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;nnnnnn

If you decide you will not want to uninstall the fix, delete the
corresponding folder
C:\Windows\$NTUninstallQnnnnnn$

If you then try the remove of that fix, it will fail and offer the
chance to remove from the list

Correction: Some of the hotfixes may be removable; some may not be.
One of the IE hotfixes has an uninstall entry in add/remove programs,
but it clearly stated when installed that "uninstallation is not
possible." I don't know why it shows up in Add/remove software, but
it's there.
