Hibernation no longer works

I run Windows XP Pro, fully updated, on this machine:

Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Rev. 2 (Intel 875P)
Pentium 4, 3 GHz, FSB 800 MHz
2 x 512 MB Kingston HyperX PC3500 in Dual mode
2 x IBM ATA IDE Hard disk, 60 GB, running RAID-0 on on-board controller

The rest shouldn't matter.

Here's my problem:

The first few weeks after installation of XP, hibernation worked flawlessly,
and I used it all the time. Suddenly, it doesn't work anymore.

When I press "Hibernate", everything looks normal, I get the usual
"Preparing to hibernate" message for what seems to be a reasonable amount of
time while the HD LED flashes, and then the machine powers off.

BUT! When I power up the machine again, it boots normally, i.e., it boots as
if I had used "Shut down" to turn it off. Since I first noticed it, the same
thing has happen every time I tried it.

The only thing that I can think of which may have influenced this change in
behavior is that I have used Paragon Partition Manager (a Partition Magic
kind-of-program) to double the size of my system partition.

Do you know what is going on, or can you tell me how I go about
investigating such a problem?
