Hibernation Feature No Longer Works

In the past, I have used the Hibernation feature fairly frequently. When I
try to use it now, the option comes up when I press "Shift" and run my mouse
over the "Standby" icon. However, when I click on it, it does not "power
down" and returns to the program I used last. From then on, I can't even get
the "Hibernation" option to come up. What did I do, or what needs to be
changed so I can use Hibernation again? Thanks for any suggestions.

This is the problem I got after increasing my RAM from 1G to 2G. Have you
changed your RAM. Hibernate should have come back if you restart the system.
You should do this from time to time anyway as things get gradually (or
rapidly) messed up over a long period without a restart, e.g., meory leaks
by badly written programs.

Hotfix KB909095 seems to have solved this for me.
