I'm running on Windows XP Professional v5.1 and I wanted my machine to hibernate. I've set everything up in Power Options but I don't get the 'Hibernate' option when I go to "Turn off computer ...." plus it doesn't hibernate even when left for longer than the 'Hibernate after ...' time has elapsed.

Presumably that means that when the PC was built the hibernation option wasn't put in/activated (It's a custom built machine a couple of years ago). Is it possible to get the hibernation mode put in retrospectively? Is there something I can set other than in Power Options which would enable the hibernation mode?

welcome to PCR

Hibernation ain't as buggy as it used to be, but, it's summertime ... you'll need to wait till the weather gets colder.
