Hibernate problem

N

Nick Payne

Asus P4P800 Mobo, 2Gb RAM, 46Gb free disk space, Winxp SP2 with all current
patches. Every so often when I attempt to hibernate the machine it pops up a
message in the system tray saying "Insufficient system resources exist to
complete the API". There is a patch on the MS web site for this (article
#330909), but it is for pre-SP2 and won't install on a system with SP2
already installed. So it looks as though whatever problem this patch was
supposed to fix still exists.

Hi,

From the article:

<quote>

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products
that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first
corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Meaning that if you've installed SP2, you have the correct file versions.
Usually, problems with the hibernate function are related to the motherboard
drivers. If you didn't install the ones supplied separately by Asus after
installing WinXP, then you need to. You may also need an updated one from
them. Be aware that this function does not always work with some hardware,
particularly desktops, and it may simply not be an option for you.
