Help with VPN through routers

You need to check to see if your ports are open correctly, at both ends,
normally it depends mostly on the end you are tring to connect to.

Could someone please explain what I need to do to allow a VPN connection to
a WIN2K server going through a router. Also, I'm going through a router at
the remoter location.
