help with Gemstar Plus

well some one must have run into this

my gemstar hangs at the opening screen if I apply the update
I have remove it through the control panel and deleted the gemstar and
/common/borland directories , then reinstalled.( that got it to stop hanging
all together)
but if I apply the update patch it hangs
I figured that I got a bad patch download and removed and repeated and sure
enough it hung agian.

So I'm stumped what is in the update that needs removed, that is not used by
the orginal program.

thanks in advance

the update adds barely noticeable things - go with the original. you're not
missing much. i think about the biggest change is that the "schedule day"
ends at midnight in the original, but 3am on the update.

yeah but it also has a drop down for day in the middle of the screen rather
than the menu-
which is better for a remote mouse

This extension of the Schedule Day until 3:00 AM does seem to cause a
problem.

*IF* it is 'after midnight' (eg. the current time is approx. 1:00 AM
on Dec. 10th) AND I want to right-click and schedule a recording for a
program STARTING at 1:30 AM on the 10th, the DATE shown above the
schedule grid still shows Dec.9th.

ANYWAY, the bottom line of all this is that the program is NOT
(really) supposed to start for 1/2 hour BUT Guideplus causes the
recording to start IMMEDIATELY on the channel in question.

The only way I can seem to get around this is to MANUALLY do the
scheduling myself.

(I THINK I'm outlining the situation correcly; I ran into it about a
week ago. Anyway, the program I wanted DEFINITELY should not have
resulted in the recording happening until 'later' in the morning on
the day in question. I THINK it happens because GuidePlus sends the
wrong date to ATI MMC and it 'says' "Holy Shit, I better get going and
record and get what I can or something...". Someone might want to
check this out - after midnight 'in the guide, try scehduling
something to start 'in the future' and see what happens...).

I noticed this too! It is so frustrating!!

Ok let us get back to the orginal question
Something happen and I in order to get the gemstar to work at all I had to
completely remove it then reinstall
If I apply the update patch ( not the schedule update) the Gemstar will hang
on the opening screen.
so they way I got it figured there is something in th update that is
screwing up Gemstar that I need to delete so it gets rebuilt
Any Ideas?

Hmmm.. I had the same problem .. for a while (it seems to be gone now, and I
didn't really do anything to 'fix' it) BUT... it did find a "work around"
for the hang up.

The opening box stayed on the screen. Nothing else I tried worked ... until
I clicked on LOG then clicked back on GRID. Now it works ... the box stays
in the center of the screen but you can choose programs and even download
new data .. but you can't move the box so doing things like entering the
name for a title or actor search is impossible.
