Gemstar wrong channel line-up

I'm having a problem with my Gemstar program. A couple of months ago my
cable channel did a *major* re-vamp of the channels. My Gemstar program has
YET to show these changes!

Because of this the program is *severly* limited (almost useless), but yet I
download every week hoping that it will get fixed. I tried checking the box
to "Let me choose the channel line-up again" but nothing changed. Today I
realized that this box only lets me change my zip code info and such .. it
does not automatically query Gemstar for an updated channel list. SO ... I
change my zipcode to another city that is miles away. I downloaded a new
channel line-up that is different from my city. THEN changed the zip back to
what it should be and did another download .. hoping that *maybe* it would
load up properly .. NO LUCK .. still the same old set of channels that is no
longer in use.

Ever try to contact Gemstar?? Pretty much impossible. I could try
contacting my cable channel and ask if they've notified Gemstar of the
changes ... but I would most likely just get someone who would lie to me
("Yes we did inform them") just to "blow me off"

Anyone else ever have this problem?

You can edit the Channel List by opening GemStar in GRID
format, right click on the channel number then select
"edit channel number". Enter the new channel number in
the "custom" column. As long as all the channels are being
displayed albight in the wrong place, this method will work
to rearrange them.

I have a similar problem with my cable system but additionally,
some channels that are available do not show up on the GemStar
list. I then reassign an currently unused channel on the list
to the missing channel number. That way I can at least tune to
it although no correct listing info is available.

try changing your zip code to a town or city near you, since most of the
time local cable channel line ups are the same , I needed to do that . they
updated the town couple miles up the road but not me

Thanks .. but as Gypsy Baron suggested I did it manually. It was a pain (it
was a *major* change of the line-up) and I still don't have every last
channel correct. (some numbers have two channels assigned) BUT it now
'works'.
