Help with Firewall

Hi,

I've download a program onto my micrsoft desktop (xp) and it's installed correctly ... when I double click the icon to start the program it is immediately shut down and the icon on the taskbar disapears when you scroll your mouse over to it.. How do I turn off my firewall so I can use this program?

Firstly, any program that requires that you disable your firewall outright
in order to use it, is software you should not use.

Secondly, what causes you to believe that disabling the firewall is the
solution, or is even related to the failure of the program to launch
correctly? Have you checked with the application developer's support?

What's the name of the software & what does it do? Any error messages, on
screen or in the event logs?
