xp sp2 firewall question

Increasingly so, everytime I restart/boot up my computer, the security Icon
pops up saying my firewall is disabled, but when I shut down, it was enabled,
so something is turning off my firewall whenever I restart/boot up. I've
noticed sometimes that it turns on by itself, but most of the time I turn it
on myself. I also noticed that the wireless manager program fails at startup
which preceeds the firewall warning. Could this be under the influence of a
hacker? or is there something wrong with my settings? Any suggestions?

I think your first bet is to start with the Event Logs for service failures
at startup.

From your desktop, you can right click My Computer and select Manage. In the
left pane, expand System Tools and Event Viewer.

You will want to start with looking for errors at startup in the System log.
