Help pls: Device installer error

Any advice I can get on this annoyance would be most appreciated. In a
nutshell here is the problem:
Anytime I run an installer for virtually any piece of hardware or software I
get a device installer error that states:

"Windows could not load the installer for Volume"

After I click OK, everything appears to work the installation will continue
and be successfull.
