Help! Norton won't run in Safe Mode

Hello!

Sometime ago, I had a SERIOUS virus infection that required some
specific steps, plus running Norton Antivirus in SAFE MODE.

My computer is OK, but a friend now has a similar problem; she bought
a new copy of Norton, installed and ran Antivirus several times, with
no real improvement.

I instructed her to run in Safe Mode, but the program will not load
(this is the same problem that I had previously).

Any suggestions?

Hi Fred,

If the virus is keeping her a-v software from running, she can go to
TrendMicro's Housecall online virus scanner. This should not be blocked by
the virus. Just click the link below. The first time it is set up on the
computer, it can take awhile to install the virus definitions. If she's
using dial-up, it can take around 20 minutes to download.
Just before starting the scan, make sure she checks the box to clean or
remove any found viruses. (It's located below the Scan button.)

Hi as well

just a thought... is it that the program will not run? Or that the icon is
not in the task bar so it seems like there is no way to start it?
