hi,
I need help. I have IBM Thinkpad T30 with XP Professional. I have aprioblem
starting the windows. Laptop is in the loop, asking me to start in safe mode
(which doesn't work any way), then tries to start normally and goes back to
me asking to start in safe mode...and so on. In between, I can see a blue
screen briefly for a few seconds. Here is what I noted. It says:
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME , then there is a bunch of sentences asking to press
F8 and other stuff (which I tried and won't do anything). At the very bottom,
I can see like an error code:
STOP: 0x000000ED (82383900, 0x0000006, 0x0000000, 0x0000000)

I am really not sure what is the problem. I expect bad hard drive. Is there
anything I can try to at least access the HD to retrieve some files? Any
helpwould be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

This article -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q297185 - might be
of some help to you. Try loading the BIOS Failsafe Settings as it suggests,
and see what happens then. If that fails to get you what you need, the
hard-drive could be removed from the T30 and connected to a desktop PC (via
an IDE adaptor, or using an external USB cradle such as the Integral, made
by Akasa) and the files copied off it.

Good luck -

Philip
