HELP: Constant reboot on startup (doesn't reach Welcome screen)

Hello,

Problem Description:

My computer is running Windows XP Home. The current state
is that it loads up with the loading Windows XP screen and
then reboots the system before the welcome screen
displays. No UI components appear before the reboot. The
same problem happens if I boot up in safe mode or Last
Known Good Configuration.

What I was doing before:

1) Computer died (would not even boot) and I needed to
backup some application data (specifically, export Outlook
email/contacts/etc). Replaced motherboard and could boot
up into Windows.

2) On logon, Windows says I need to Activate my copy of
windows now (options are either activiate or reboot...
windows in unusable if I don't activate).

3) I didn't have the product key (fixing computer for a
friend, didn't have their CD & key), so I tried using a
one of my Windows XP Pro keys... for the purpose of just
getting in once to backup the application data.

4) This didn't work and upon reboot again, the computer
says some registry files needed to be restored, and then
blue screened after a few seconds.

5) Computer reboots, and Windows detects some disk error
and runs chkdsk. It makes some corrections and then
reboots again.

6) At this point, I can't get to the welcome screen. It
just keeps rebooting over and over.

Questions:

1) Any obvious solutions? :)

2) Are there any logs with the startup activity?

I'd appreciate any help on this. Please email me at

Thank you

Need to get new MB drivers . A repair install would solve your problems ,
but you will need the proper XP cd and key. Jym
