Help and Support Center ERRORS

Jeff

Every time I try to use any trouble shooter in help and support for windows
XP PRO.

I get this error message and never can go any farther than first content
page of trouble shooter.

an activex control on this page is not safe. your current security settings
prohibit running activex controls on this page. as a result, the page may not
display correctly.

Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

In the right-pane, double-click the value 1200 and set it's value to 0

1200 corresponds to Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins setting

Repeat the same in this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

Hi Mark I tryed what you suggested but I still have the problem.

I did find a work around that lets me run trouble shooters but I must
change security in the Internet zone.

I must select enable on.
Initialze and script activeX controls not marked as safe for scripting.

Before the (any) trouble shooter I use will go to the next selection (next
page)

This was the work around link suggested by devil himself. (same as yours)
but just below his
suggestion was the work around.

Thank you for the replys but is there any way to fix this without changing
my IE security settings?
