Headphones

Hello,
I have the Soundblaster Live sound card and it works
fine. My problem is that when I try to plug in my
headphones in my cd rom, I have no audio except when I
plug them into the back.. I went to device manager and
reconfigured but can't get it to work. Is the only way I
can use my headphones is to unplug my speakers in the
back and plug headphone in back?

Have you tried the volume control on the CD-Rom? It is
right next to headphone jack, it is a rotating volume
control.

Yes, That's the first thing I tried.

If the CD-Rom works in every other way, then you may have
to update or reinstall the drivers for the headphone jack
to operate properly. You stated you checked the Device
manager, that's where you can do troubleshooting. If
nothing else works, then reinstall.

The headphone jack on a CD-ROM does not pick up sound
going through your soundcard. The only way you can get
any sort of sound through the CD-ROM headphone socket is
if youput an audio CD into your CD-ROM drive and press
the play button on the front of the drive. Those jacks
were designed so that you could use the CD-ROM as an
Audio CD player without any computer intervention (except
for power). So the only option you have is to unplug your
speakers and plug in your headphones (I know your pain
all too well - I have the same problem).
I hope this information helps.
