If no headphone jack is available on the front of the CD player, the
SPEAKER OUT jack on the soundcard can be used. Radio Shack, and similar
stores, can supply adapters that allow both the headphones and the
speakers to utilize the jack simultaneously.
 
My speaker set has a headphone jack receptacle on it. You might look there
 
Your computer's manual, or the manufacturer's website, should have all the
info on what plugs in where.

It's not a Windows XP question.
