Headphones-- no sound

[Desparate for Sound]

Once I connected the headphones to the computer no sound
played. The monitor I have (NEC Accusync 70) does not
have built in speakers. Does that prevent any sound- even
with the use of headphones? I have checked all volume
controls and used the troubleshooting options as
well.Please let me know what I can do to hear sound
through these headphones.

Usually the headphones plug into the speakers. I take it
you have a set?

What bollocks!
If you don't have speakers you can plug headphones direct into the sound
card, or (if you only want to listen to CDs) into the CD drive.

Your manual for your sound card should tell you what jacks to plug into in
back of your PC.

You probably need an amplifier of some sort.
