this is a strange one
the volume on my computer is very low when using headphones and will not
increase.
I have tried all the usual, ie graphic equaliser settings etc but to no avail.
the volume is fine when not using phones,
I am also on my 3rd set of headphones and still experiencing the same
problem so it is definately a computer problem
anyone any ideas
regards

Several things to check...first, verify that the jack used
for the headphone has been configured for headphones. Some
sound cards or onboard systems may need to be reconfigured
when switching between speakers and headphones. Second, is
there an impedance mismatch between the headphones and the
sound card/onboard sound system?

I just use a y connector on speaker output jack, plug headphones into
one branch and speakers into the other, turn down volume on speakers
using the speaker volume control and voila, headphones work great.
