Hardware installation

Hi, I just bought an MP3 player. When I tried to install it, a found new
hardware wizard popped up. I went through that and it said installation
failure. I tried to install on a different computer and it installed
automatically. I know it is the computer because i tried a different mp3
player and got the same result. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix
this. Thanks

its best to install the software before plugging the device in, remove
any trace of the software and drivers, reboot, install software that
came with the device then plug the device in if prompted to do so or
after installation has finished.

thanks for the reply, but to install the software I have to connect the usb
cable from the mp3 player to the computer. On the other computer it installs
automatically but on mine it goes to the wizard and then fails to install.
It then does not show up in my computer. any more help wpuld be great.
Thanks

you may want to drive and remove the usb controllers from the device
manager reboot then reinstall the drivers when prompted to do so
(allow it to install drivers from online) then try it again..

well probably not.. i only said it because i would want to make sure i
have the latest available drivers available
try reinstall the audio device again, then click start/run and type
'eventvwr' hit enter, have a look through system and application logs
and look for error logs etc and see if anything in there gives more
details on the problem.
