Two media players do not give sound when I start the mp3-files.

Both player - Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic - have equally
wrong behavior under Vista. They do not give sound when I start the
mp3-files. The progress bar moves, but there is no sound. And the same
mp3-files perfectly give sound via the Sony Sound Forge. And the same
mp3-files perfectly give sound through a home network on another computer
via the Windows Media Player (under WinXP).
Where can be a mistake?
Thank you

In the past microsoft had said that the installation of two or more media
players create a "conflict problem"....The players end up competing for the
same media files, one needs to edit each player as to whom opens up which
file(s)...
