WMP does not give sound when you start the mp3-files

The Windows Media Player does not give sound when you start the mp3-files
(under Vista). The progress bar moves and the visualization works, but there
is no sound. And the same mp3-files perfectly give sound via the Sony Sound
Forge. And the same mp3-files perfectly give sound through a home network on
another computer via the Windows Media Player (under WinXP).
Where can be a mistake?

Thanl you

Try this:
Open WMP, Select Tools|Options
Then select the Devices tab and select Speakers, then
click the Properties button.

Now change the Audio device to use in the dropdown.
