I'm using adobe acrobat 7 profressional with windows XP service pack 2. I
managed to update the software to version 7.0.3 but the 7.0.5 is refusing to
get installed. The windows installer 3.1 error message that comes up says
"this action is only valid for products that are currently installed". I
tried using windows installer clean up utility but it didn't help. The
updates are getting installed in my friend's computer which also runs winXp
servise pack2. Kindly help

Thanks for your trying to help sir
I tried both websites for posting this SOS. The MS site tells about a hotfix
but it is nowhere for download. Can you suggest me a site where I can
download that?. Thanks

If you read about the hotfix, then you also read that hotfixes are not
available for download. There was contact information on the website.
Getting and using a hotfix is extremely easy and only takes a few minutes.
You contact MS, tell them that your computer is experiencing the symptoms
of Knowledge Base #[insert your number], and they email you the link to the
zipped hotfix download and a password with which to open the zipped file.

Generally the whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
