Hi

Have been using XP Home for the last 3 years,
..
Today for the first time I set up Windows 'Messenger' service.

My question;

How do you change the name that other people see?

I have gone to;

Tools/Options/Personal

but this shows my email address 'greyed out'.

Thanks, Stephen

Which version of MSN are you using? Download the latest version (7.5) from:
http://messenger.msn.co.uk/xp/downloadDefault.aspx
If you have a Hotmail or Msn account sign in and commence the download. If
you dont, go set one up. Who is your email provider? Maybe it doesnt let you
change because your not with the two providers I mentioned above. If you are
not, set one up- its handy :)
Other than that you should be able to change your name where you said
/Tools/Options/Preferences. I've been using MSN for 5 years now and I always
could change it and it was always there.

Are you referring to the messenger service (used for sending/receiving "net
send" messages) or msmsgs.exe?
