could anyone help! i'm a new xp user.I recently was on
the web and without realising what i let myself in for, i
downloaded some software from an mp3 site. The problem
is, i've tried and tried again and again to delete this
programme but everytime i turn my pc back on, the
programme appears on my desktop and in the start menu. It
appears as some foreign dial up connection. I've tried
deleting it through control panel but it just reappears
when my pc turns on what do i do? please help.

There are 2 programs you can download to help with this:

1) Ad-Aware. Download from www.lavasoft.de

2) Spybot. Download from www.eon.net.au

Ad-Aware isn't as effective as Spybot at removing some programs and by the
sound of it, wont help with the one you have. It is, however, updated a heck
of a lot more frequently and can pick up some cookies that Spybot doesn't
know about until it's next update.

Once you have installed both, be on the net and click to UPDATE both (which
you will see right in front of your eyes when you load the programs) and
make sure you update both at LEAST weekly.

When you have done all this and all is installed, note that either or both
programs may tell you that they need to run next reboot. Tell them YES that
they CAN run next reboot if asked to do that. Some times it is the only way
to get rid of the lot. Spybot also has an IMMUNISE function which you SHOULD
use and make sure you are IMMUNISED against future installs of things that
it knows.

Another thing you might want to do is download a program like Zone Alarm
which can, in certain cases, prevent stuff being installed that you really
don't want on your computer.
