Getting "received for" email for someone I sent appointment to.

I set an appointment and one of the recipents is a past employee who we have
had shared access on our calendars. He had reviewer access on mine and I had
editor access on his. We have removed each other from our permissions. Now,
when I send out an appointment, and he is one of the attendees, I get an
email notification that says, "Received for Doe, John. This meeting is not
in the Calendar; it may have been moved or deleted." Across the top of the
email is the; Accept, Tentitve, Decline, Propose a new time... I can accept
the meeting for him.

This is the only person this happens with! Help!
