Generic Host Process problem

I have repeatedly gotten the notice above...for WIN32 Services...and the
following 0x745f2780 ref at memory 0x000000000could not br read...I am
running XP Home on a DELL DIM9150 with 1 GB RAM. This problem began after I
downloaded and installed the very latest MS updates. I did a restore back to
a previous setting, but the problem persists. In short, the message appears
and the system locks up shortly after startup and forces me to terminate as
the normal shut down procedure does not work. Note that I am operating in
the safe mode now. Any help in getting this fixed will be most

"Turn off Microsoft Automatic Updates and use the manual method of updating.
Restart the computer after the closure and the error will disappear."
