Hello again,

As you know I have now got my WLM working perfectly and have not yet tried
it with the Norton re-installed. A new problem has occurred prior to me
opening WLM
and it only happens when I start my machine for each new session. There are
4 messages that appear which I have to o.k. before getting into WLM.
The messages are:

Windows Mail
Contacts failed to load.

WinMail.exe
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to initialize
the Windows Contacts. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is
full.
(0X 8000FFFF)

WinMail.exe
Windows Mail. Make sure your disk is not full or that you are not out of
memory. (0X 8000FFFF)

Windows Mail
Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized.

I have to o.k. each of these messages before I can get into WLM. How can I
stop these annoying messages?

Thanks -Susan.

It is not at all clear to me why you are getting error messages from
WM when WLM is your current default email program. Something is
causing WM to launch. Have you looked in the Startup folder?

Hi Gary,
When you say Startup folder do you mean All Programs accessed via the Start
globe. I have been in there and it did show a WM icon which I deleted. I then
went into Control Panel and looked in Programs & Features and WM is not in
there just the WLM. I have re-started my computer twice since removing WM but
the 4 messages still appeared at each start up.

Thanks-Susan

Hi Gary,

Have found the Startup Folder in All Programs I opened it up and it says
empty.

Thanks-Susan.

Yes, the StartUp under All Programs is what I had in mind.
I've run out of sophisticated solutions, so let's try a blunt ax
approach. :)
Use 'Computer' or Windows Explorer to navigate to
C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe. Right-click on
WinMail.exe, select Rename, then change the name to something
like WinMail-X.exe. Windows will give you a warning, but just click
OK. This will prevent Windows Mail from ever starting up again.

Gary,
Found the folder doing it the way you said. It is called Win Mail ( no exe
)I right clicked it and changed the name and this came up.
You need permission to perform this action, (with Try Again underneath it )
It will not allow me in.

Susan.

Hello Gary,
Just switched my computer off for the night (bedtime here in uk) and
remembered I had forgotten to do something on it so switched on again. When
it logged on none of the 4 error messages came on screen. I have since
switched my computer off and back on again twice more and guess what
........no annoying messages. Don't know why.........maybe the computer
knew I was tired and it stopped tormenting me.
Anyway thanks for your help.

Thanks - Susan

You'd be surprised how many things get fixed by rebooting the
computer. Glad it is working for you.
