games cause restart

Nearly all of the games I heve cause my computer to
restart after a very short period of playing. They are XP
compatible. I have set my computer up so that it will not
restart in the event of a system failure but it still
does whenever i play games. In the event log, i have
several entries on a '1001' event under the heading
of 'error', which i presume are due to my games, but the
help and support centre does not say how to rectify the
problem.

Have you updated all your drivers to the lastest version. Espicially your
graphics card. What are the specs for your machine and what games have you
tried to run and restart after playing. Has this always happened or is it a
recent event?

I have a brand new PC with high spec. The problem mainly
occurs with Warcraft III, Medieval Total War and American
Conquest.
