G85xi and Windows 2000 Advanced Server

Second post on this issue. Is there a patch for an all-in-
one G85xi and a Poweredge1600sc running Windows 2000
advanced server? HP Diagnostics states that this is an
unsupported system, but I find that hard to believe. I
have all updates installed. This is connected thru a USB
cable. Thanks.

Missed the first post so I don't know your exxact problem.

If it concerns "losing communication", then let me recount an experience
of mine with a Gateway I purchased three years ago. I connected a UMAX
scanner to it via the USB port. All was well until the Gateway actually
started to received the image being scanned. It would then report
"communication was lost".

Turned out that this particular Gateway model's motherboard used a
particular Intel USB controller chip that could not manage the power
requirements of the USB protocol. By using a *powered* USB hub, all the
problems went away.

Again, not knowing the nature of your situation, you will have to
evaluate for yourself whether a *powered* USB hub is relevant to your
issue.

had the same issue!!
but found after a little testing a solution,
hate it that the brainiacs at HP dont have any solution published for this
yet, it's clearly a problem with HP's system check prior to installation.
seems they would only support it with SP2, but i have ofcourse SP4 on
already...) anyways, here my solution:

- download A140609_ENU_2K.exe from the HP drivers webpage
- doubleclick on it (memorize the location where it extracts the cdimage to)
- when the infamous "don't like your OS"-page shows up, just cancel.
- go with explorer or such into the directory: "whereeverthecdimageis\setup"
- make sure usb is disconnected
- execute the file: launcher.exe
- reboot when asked
- connect usb to g85xi while rebooting
- wait after reboot till all windows drivers are installed
works like a charm!!

hope this helps
