Vista Ultimate 64 bit Version Problems

I installed Vista Business, 32 bit; then Vista Business 64 bit; then Vista
Ultimate, 64 bit. While this operating system is a step in the right
direction, it has presented one significant shortcoming. Many 32 bit programs
run fine, but the help files associated with them are not supported in 64 bit
versions.

Another shortcoming is that some devices that previously worked with Windows
XP doesn't work properly with Vista. Vista supplied drivers with limited
capabilities for such items as the HP G85xi, an all in one
scanner/printer/fax/copier. With Vista Ultimate, use of printer capabilities
like duplex printing is not supported. It is also hard to print documents
with text large enough to easily read with Vista Ultimate. IE seems to want
to print with the smallest font size it can find.

Just go to the manufacture web site for your devices and download and
install the Vista drivers. This will fix your printing problems.

You might want to try to microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general newsgroup
with this question. They're a lot more helpful.

Vista 64 , by design, REQUIRES drivers to be certified or signed - no
exceptions. Also 32 bit applications installed on 64 bit OS may not have
all functions operating - for example from Office 2007 site:

"Note The 2007 Microsoft Office system programs client is a 32-bit
application and can run on a Windows 64-bit platform (Windows XP, Windows
Server 2003, and Windows Vista) but there may be some feature limitations as
noted in the system requirements below."

Thank you all for responding. You may have a good thought John. I have
worked with HP and they indicated I should install a different set of drivers
(for an IJ 6500). But alas that did not work and HP said to just wait until
they determine if they will update the drivers for the G85xi (based on
customer need, I guess).

Sometimes I can work around the small print problem by selectin the printer
icon on the tool bar (not from the file menu), and there are options in this
path that allow you to adjust the print size (which defaults to small). Some
programs do not support the enhanced menu that opens when selecting the
printer icon on the tool bar.
