Vista Ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit

I have just purchased a new laptop that has 32 bit Vista Ultimate on it. I
read somewhere that Ultimate will allow you load 32 bit or 64 bit versions on
the machine. My DVD contains only the 32 bit version of Vista Ultimate on it.
How can I get the 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate OS?
 
One cannot "upgrade" a 32-bit O/S to a 64-bit O/S.
You would need to purchase a 64-bit version of Vista
and perform a complete clean install which requires reformatting
the hard drive.

You have an OEM copy of Vista Ultimate(preinstalled), which means that you
have to buy a full version of the 64bit ultimate, and do a clean install.

Getting a free(except for $10 postage from MS) copy of 64bit only applies to
people who have bought a Retail version of Vista.
 
If the 64-bit version is available it will have to come from your laptop
manufacturer. Only retail versions include both 32-bit and 64-bit copies of
Vista.

And if you have the retail version of Vista Ultimate, you get it in the
box...

*If* yours is a retail version. Since your copy came with the
computer, it's an OEM version, and you do not have that choice.
