Function keys at setup

Trying to reload XP but once into setup I cannot select f8
to accept the licence agreement to proceed, they seem to
be disabled somehow, any ideas.

Have you tried another keyboard to make sure there isn't a problem with
yours?

Boot your machine with a Win98 boot disk from
www.bootdisk.com, and press F8 many times
during the boot phase. If you get a selection menu
then your keyboard is OK. If you don't then you
need to replace it.
