ftp publishing

I am having a problem publishing to a site that has been up for nearly 3
years--After being unable to connect I checked the Passive box-- I don't know
if I had used that before but the new pages did publish but wihtout the
pictures. They are showing on the pages in my system and also in the images
folder on FP. When I try to publish again it asks if I want to overwrite and
I indicate yes but nothing changes on the remote and on some tries I get a
425 failed to connect message.
How can I correct this problem and should I use passive ftp?

Well, that sure brings back some memories..

As for the images that don't display, I noticed one had a comma in the file name,
first,last.jpg.
Rename the file and remove the comma.

As for the publish issues:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then open the web and recalculate hyperlinks.

See if it helps.

Steve,
Sorry, I should have indicated the page that I have the problem with, I was
adding these pages to the site.

Steve,
I removed the comma, recalcuated the hyper links and applied the fixes from
FP Cleaner.
When I try to publish the system is very slow to list the pages from my
computer, then when I publish it asks if I want to overwrite on the pages I
have made changes and I indicate yes. The progress bar moves about 2 inches
and then stops and after a short time I get the message "Could not find a web
server at www.v8vairs.com on port 21. Please check to make sure that the web
server names are set correctly , if you are sure that everyting is correct,
the web server may be temporiarly out of service." I check with the host and
he indicated that everything is OK there.

Steve,
Yes, I had been using the www---and had published that way many times. I
changed the addresss to remove the www and a couple of minutes after starting
the upload, it gave me the same message.
