frontpage password

When I try to connect to my hosting Web server with FP2003, I repeatedly get
the popup "Connecting to www.mydomain.com" asking for my User Name and
Password. It is not accepting my password. (Yes, I am sure it's the correct
one because I checked it on the server.) Above the User Name fields I see
the name of a deleted domain (e.g., "www.myolddomain.com").

Any suggestions?

Either FrontPage or Windows is confused about the domain I'm trying to log
into as well as the appropriate password.

I've seen this problem before so I know that if I had access to the server I
could fix the problem by re-booting it. However, I don't and so I was hoping
that there was a way to fix this by using FrontPage to reset the password,
which I guess would cause FrontPage to delete the bad association it has
made.

Close FrontPage
Delete any references to the web from "My network places"

Run regedit and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Recent Publish List
and delete everything in the right pane except "Default"

Then do the same for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Recent Web List

Close regedit and reopen FrontPage.

If still no luck go here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html and download and run Protected
Storage PassView and remove the old info from the list. ( be careful what you delete )

Will "probably" require a reboot.

Dave Berry & Steve Easton,
I appreciate your prompt replies and the information you provided.

In the end, I was able to re-establish contact between my FrontPage
and my hosting service's FrontPage Server Extensions by using the
hosting service's administration page to reset my FPSE passwords.

Thanks again,
George Klima
