From field default

One of our users has added an info@ mailbox to their Outlook profile. They
claim that they previously could go into the inbox of that secondary account
and click on New>Mail Message and that the from field would default to info@.
Replying to or forwarding mail sent to this account does change the from
field accordingly but new messages do not. Can anyone shed some light on this?

We are using Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003. POP3 is not involved.

The default account is always used for new messages. The acct he is using
might be a web based acct and does not use the Outlook Inbox. Replies are
always sent from the receiving acct unless manually changed. He needs to use
the Account button to select a non default acct to send from.

That was my understanding too, but they swear up and down they were able to
do this before. This account is a mailbox created on our Exchange server and
is an alias used on our domain. Apparently changing the From field is too
taxing for them.

So is there no possibility that this was the case for them? I'm trying to
find an MS KB that will prove it to them for me.
