Freeze while loading personal settings

After a power loss and subsequent abrupt shutdown, Windows2000 starts up but
freezes when it loads personal settings. This occurs when I try to gain
access in Safe Mode as well. Any suggestions?
 
Try to login with another id such as administrator.

Rename the profile folder of your id under C:\Document and settings and try
logging in again. If this is successful, you will have a new profile folder.
Then manually copy back some files in your original profile folder such as
files on desktop.
