Freeze in opening

When I first start my pc I get the following lead in:

Phoenix-Award workstation BIOS V6. OOPG
Main Processor: etc.
Memory Testing: etc.
Primary master: etc.
Primary Slave: etc.
Secondary Master: etc.
Secondaet Slave: etc.

And then it freezes there and I have to turn off the pc and restart anywhere
from 4 to 6 times before it will move on the to the "Welcome to Windows XP".
Has anyone out there had this problem and if so how was it corrected. Thank
you for any help.

This is more likely a hardware problem than a Windows problem.
Some diagnostics need to be run to determine which component is the problem.
