FP2003/WinXP PRO/FP Extensions Publish file problem -- HELP

Trish

I've been using new software on a new PC for over a month.
So Far I love FP2003 and WinXP PRO.
I placed my two PC web source datasets in a folder named
My Web Sites in my My Documents folder during install.
Both of my PC source webs show the WEB ICON on the
folder when listed. The folder My Web Sites also shows
this WEB ICON.... is it supposed to?
I tried to do a normal 'Publish' from FrontPage on my PC
last night (select File then publish item) and got a "Remote
Web Site Properties" popup page. Everything looked just
fine so I selected ok and then got the normal Publish
screen. The remote website was showing my online
web http://www.regischurch.com , and publish changed
pages. The publish from local to remote item was tagged.
It showed me the normal Listing in srweb and Listing in
http etc, then came up with a two page files in conflict
listing popup that asked me if I wished to cancel the pub-
lish, overwrite the items on the remote web, or synchro-
nize. I cancelled since I didn't know what was happening.
The resulting publish listing showed no files copied to my
online (remote) web.
Another puzzling item was at the bottom of the 'publish'
printout page where IE6 normally shows the web site being
looked at: This had:
file://c:\Documents and Settings\Pat\Local Settings \Temporary
Internet Files\Content.IE5\P2SWKNG\srweb[1].htm .
I'm not sure why I show a file for IE5 when I have IE6. A
search of my entire computer shows no srweb[1].htm.
P.S. I had cleared all my IE temporary internet files before
trying to do this publish.
I am very confused.... if anyone can help me with any info
I would be very grateful.
My online web is www.regischurch.com . My pc source web
is srweb.

This is normal - your web sources are subwebs (subsites) of the My Webs
folder. Nothing to worry about since frontPage will treat a subsite as a
complete, independant website.

I tried to do a normal 'Publish' from FrontPage on my PC
last night (select File then publish item) and got a "Remote
Web Site Properties" popup page. Everything looked just
fine so I selected ok and then got the normal Publish

Files in conflict are files where FrontPage does not know which are the
current files you wish to keep. As far as FrontPage can tell, both your
local and remote sites have been edited without being published from one to
another. This will always happen if you upgrade FrontPage, or do a first
time publish to an existing website. If you are happy that your local site
should replace the remote site, do a Publish all pages first to synchronise
the sites. The next time you publish, use Changed pages only, and there
should not be any conflicting pages.
See www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/publish_states.htm, which attempts to
explain the status messages in the publish windows.

The resulting publish listing showed no files copied to my
online (remote) web.

Because you cancelled.

The publish report is created and stored in the TIF (Temporary Internet
Files) cache folders. Ever since IE5.0 these consist of 6 folders
Temporary Internet Files, Content.IE5, and 4 folders with random names.
When you view the TIF you only see the top folder, and all the files appear
to be in it.
A Windows search does not include the Temporary Internet Files, so will
never find any files in the TIF.

Thank you, Ronx:
The inline response you sent was clear and very much
appreciated. The online link explanation of the 'conflict'
meanings was excellent. I'm very grateful.
