FP2003 Publish failed during "Processing...."

Trish

I'm running FP2003 on a Windows xp/pro system.
I'm using a server provider that supports the Front
Page Extensions. I haven't had any problems with
FP2003 that you haven't helped me fix in the past.
.....just my own errors.
I added two new pages with routine hyperlinks and
checked my reports file and all looked good. I ran
the "publish" from Frontpage on my PC and during
the "processing web updates" process received
a FrontPage popup screen "Server Error: Cannot
close file "service.cnf". The only way to continue
was to select the one button on the popup screen
with the OK text. This returned me to the publish
screen with a publish failed message.
What is the "service.cnf" file and how did I mess
it up. My web URL is www.regischurch.com . I'm
lost... I don't know what the Service.cnf file is or
what it is used for. Can anyone help?

Hi Tish,

More than likely the FPSE is corrupted and should be checked. Most hosting
companies control panels have a menu item to check and fix the extensions.
If yours does not ask your hosting company to run the check.

Thank you both for your responses:
I know I'm not out of the Server disk space I pay for
since I just completed a cleanup (published deletes for
more than 35 files successfully) last month, and have
only added 8 very minor files since then. The 'reports
view" on my PC FrontPage web shows my usage is
about half of what it was last month.

Thank you Vey, for your microsoft web link. It des-
cribes a solution that I think is going to work for me.
I've notified my Server (Host?) support of the problem
I'm having and am waiting for his response.

I am extremely grateful/thankful for the answers I've
been given here at this newsgroup over the past years.
I would have given up without the help provided by
the good folks here. Thank You.

I'm running FP2003 on a Windows xp/pro system.
((snipped rest to save your time reading))

I received an email yesterday from my Host Server
support area. They had a problem and had to reset
the Server extensions. When I retried the 'publish'
after the reset it worked just fine.
Thank you, especially to Vey, for responding and
for sending me on. I learned what the service.cnf
file was.... every little bit helps<big grin>, and I'm
really grateful.
