FP2000 publishing problem

I recently moved FP200 from a Win98 computer to a WinXP computer, and
ever since I've been unable to publish to my website. When I try, I
get connected, FP lists the pages on my local computer, lists pages at
the host server, but then hangs up when it tries to upload the first
file and (after a while) gives me the error message "The server sent a
response that FrontPage could not parse. If you are trying to connect
with a FrontPage server, check with the server's administrator to make
sure the FrontPage server extensions are installed properly." The
server administrator has wiped the site clean and reinstalled the
extensions, I have created a test web with just one page, and I still
get the error message when I try to publish this test web. I was able
to work with the web directly, but then got the odd problem that the
labels on the navigation bars would disappear! When I got rid of the
theme I was using, the labels came back, but then when I tried to
reinstall the theme (working directly) I got the error message again!
I don't know if these two problems are related. Anybody have
suggestions for things I can try?
