FP 2003: Publish to hard drive error

E

Eric Friedebach

I'm using a new computer running XP Pro with all updates and patches.
The website sits on a Linux server with FP Server Extensions enabled.
I'm not using SharePoint.

When I try to publish to my hard drive, the following message appears
after the folders have been created on the local drive:

"An error occurred accessing your Windows SharePoint Services site
files. Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the
Webmaster for this server's Web site. Webmasters - please see the
server's application event log for more details."

The website was created with FP2000. Just about any time I had trouble
in the past few years, having the Server Extensions reset seemed to
fix *any* problems, but there must be something about FP2003 that I am
not familiar with.

Suggestions, please?

What did your host tell you when you asked them to give you the information
in "the server's application event log for more details"?

They did not seem to recognize this error. I asked for a definition of
what SharePoint is, but they were not not able to give a good
description.

I'll find out what they see in the event log and follow up here.

Thanks,

Well, it seems there is nothing in the event log to see. The tech
support guys at the hosting company have suggested I try WS_FTP, since
the FTP in FP 2003 does not seem to want to work either.
