Format the HD

I am borrowing a laptop computer and installed my own XP and a Linux.
Before I return it, can I wipe out everything and reformat it to only have
NTFS but nothing on it? How to do that?

Thanks.

Just having NTFS on it and nothing else is pretty useless.
Why not just insert the XP setup cd in the drive, boot the machine, start
the install and during initial setup just delete all partitions on the drive
and exit the setup procedure.
The recipient of the laptop will have to install an OS on it anyway to be
able to have a usefull laptop.
