Format from XP or Win 98???

I was given a computer that is running Win XP Home
Edition upgraded from Windows 98SE. I am wanting to
format the HD and do a clean install of XP. Now, I have
formatted HD's with both of these OS's before but now I
don't know if I should uninstall XP then format or if I
should delete the 704,638K Windows 98/ME Installation
files then format using the XP CD????
