Fonts for plain text, reading appears smaller than composing?

When I set a font for plain text:
"when composing and reading plain text"

I get that font for composing a mail in plain text, but it is much smaller
when viewing plain text.

what could I do to correct this?

Reading where, in the Reading Pane or in an open message window?

Both.

I don't use the reading pane, so if there is a fix just for the open message
window case then that suits me.

But I just checked in the reading pane and it is the same size there, the
smaller size.

What do you have chosen on Tools>Options>Mail Format>Fonts?

8 pt. Arial

When replying and forwarding:
8 pt. Arial <blue>

When composing and reading plain text:
8 pt. Courier New

Have you tried increasing the sizes of those fonts?

I've found the problem.

It was not in fact the fonts that had become altered, but the zoom.

It still goes haywire every once in a while, but now I know I can just go into
View - Zoom and correct it.
