Font problem

Remo Grütter

I renamed the micross.ttf file (font Microsoft Sans Serif) in the
command line window to micross0.tff (don't ask, there WAS a reason
why). Now I can't rename it back. If I type "dir" in the command line
window, there is the file micross.ttf as well as micross0.ttf in the
font folder. I can't rename micross0.ttf to micross.ttf, because there
is already such a file, I can't delete micross.ttf, because it is in
use, although I chose other fonts for desktop and windows.

Thanks for any suggestions.

When you delete that file, WFP (Windows File Protection) kicked in and
restored it within a few second, which is why it’s there. You can verify by
comparing the two files; they will be identical. You can just delete
micross0.tff.

Hello Alec

Thank you for answering.
You can just delete micross0.tff.

Unfortunatly, there was a typo in my last sentence: I can't delete
micross0.ttf (AND NOT micross.ttf ), because it is in
use. So, no chance to do what you suggested. BUT you gave me the right
hint:
...restored it within a few second

I deleted micross.ttf and IMMEDIATELY renamed micross0.ttf to the
original micross.ttf. This must happen in the same half second (one
second is too slow), I had to paste the instruction. Now, everything
is fine.

Thank you again.

Yeah that worked, good for you. But why are you fighting the system?
Boot to console mode (the duh text only situation where trutype is not
in play) and manage the files.
